Michelle Rios has extensive experience as an Executive Coach and Leadership Consultant. She specializes in leader and team development, with a specific focus on cultural and emotional intelligence because these skills have the most impact on leader and organizational effectiveness. Her passion is supporting leaders as they learn to function at their best while navigating the competing priorities, ambiguities, and ever-shifting landscape of today's organization.
Michelle’s executive coaching sweet spots are helping newly promoted leaders replace the behaviors that made them successful in the past with those needed to succeed in their new role and helping leaders in a career crisis transform it into an opportunity to thrive.
Michelle’s signature Blue Tiger Leadership® Executive Coaching program helps leaders develop self-awareness, enrich relationships, and amplify team effectiveness. Her methodology is successful in part because she shadows executives while they work, observing nuances of body language, tone of voice, and word choice. She then shows the executives how their behaviors create powerful undercurrents that influence the building or damaging of relationships. Leaders learn to replace ineffective behaviors with proactive, consciously chosen ones to significantly change the outcomes of their actions both inside
and outside the organization.
Michelle has led and executed organizational development and effectiveness strategies in her leadership roles in several multinational corporations. She created a leadership development program that was implemented worldwide after graduates experienced an 86% promotion rate. She drove productivity, performance, and morale improvements by creating a learning culture that included 360-degree performance reviews and bi-monthly Management Coaching Circles for professional development.
Managers who attended reported an average increase in their sales team productivity of 5-10 percent.
One of her career highlights was spending 3 years in Asia as an expat Director of HR for the MidPacific Division of DFS, an LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton Company. In collaboration with the Managing Director and Director of Finance & Operations, she led all aspects of a $350M division and over 700 employees, including a management operations team of 25 in a multi-site, multi-national, multi-lingual organization. In addition, she was responsible for developing and implementing a worldwide Learning & Development program that trained employees in management, leadership and team effectiveness.
Michelle has clients that span the globe, however, she calls Portland, Oregon home and frequently travels to California and Washington to see other West Coast clients.
